Description: Created in a black Prisma Color
pencil this piece was worked on coquille stippled board.
The thick, soft leads made with permanent pigments of
Prisma Color pencils are dynamic in their nearness to ink quality and the
lightly pebbled surface of the coquille board lends a half-tone effect
to any medium.
Of all the pieces that I've done ~ this piece gave me
the most satisfaction. When I was a kid, and taking art lessons on
Saturday mornings, it was so frustrating that I couldn't draw a face that
looked real. The initial soft pencil sketch that I made looked a
bit more real, more like a photograph of someone, but, oh well...
the assignment called for a Prisma Color pencil on coquille stippled board...
I was really surprised that, after years of not drawing
at all, that I was able to pick it right back up again, as if I had never
stopped... Almost as if I had been practicing all these years...
I guess I shouldn't be surprised ~ dancing is like that
too. |
