pens, this piece is the first of a series of sketches using the technique
of "loose inking."
The tree trunk was created from a series of quickly sketched
lines that varied in length, direction and weight, with the darkest spots
on the bark achieved with cross hatched lines. The bushes consist
of spontaneous randomly scribbled lines which can be quickly be built up
to a dark tonality. Depth in the drawing was achieved by boldly defining
the foreground rocks and hatched lines over the background dark rocks.
This piece was created using a variety of nib sizes from 4x0 to 2. |
